Historically, tea production used to be one of main industries in Azerbaijan. These days Azerbaijani tea is not only famous in the Caucasus or Post soviet countries also in the Middle east and Europe. In Azerbaijan, people drink tea from the special glass called “armudu” (literally pear-like glass). For Azerbaijanis tea is associated with family, warmth, hospitality and friendliness therefore forget about counting the cups and enjoy the unique experience of tea ceremony in the Azerbaijan, The Land of Fire.

TEA

Ayran is a traditional Turkic drink and was consumed by nomadic tribes and first developed thousands of years ago. It is made by mixing yoghurt and chilled or iced water.

AYRAN

Most experts agree that the cradle of winemaking most likely resides somewhere in the Caucasus Mountain region where vitus vinifera grapevines grow naturally in the foothills and valleys. Today there are 17 wineries in Azerbaijan. Nowadays, Azerbaijani wine production is in the hands of local producers such as the Ganja Sharab Winery, the Vinagro Goygol Sharab Factory, the Naig Company’s Tovuz Baltiya, Agro-Azerinvest MMC and others. 

WINE

Beer in Azerbaijan is typified by lighter lagers. Of the domestically produced beers, the most widely distributed is Xirdalan. Other relatively widespread brands include Novxanı and draft-only NZS. Beer tradition is different than western countries in Azerbaijan as it served with some snacks, like cheese, peanuts, pea or fish.
